Christina Banner has been creating custom cakes in the High Country of North Carolina since 1998.  She is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.  After graduating, she worked as head pastry chef of a Relais & Chateaux inn and restaurant.  In 2004 she was the Grand Prize Winner of the National Gingerbread House Competition at the Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa in Asheville, North Carolina.  In 2005 she was asked to compete in Food Network’s first Gingerbread House Challenge, on which she received first place with a music-themed gingerbread creation.  Christina is the author of How to Build a Gingerbread House, published in 2008.
