Aspen Tree Cake

The bride and groom at this wedding once lived in Colorado, and the bride was inspired by the beautiful Aspen trees that grow there. The cake is iced in Swiss Meringue Buttercream, and was then painted with chocolate to resemble the striped bark of the Aspen tree. Handmade sugar Aspen tree leaves and twigs wind up the sides of the cake. To carry through the rustic design of this cake, it rests on a moss and bark cake base, and is topped with a moss-covered monogram initial. A tiny sugar bumble bee is “buzzing” out from behind the moss cake topper; a cute little detail to be noticed when you take a closer look at the cake. This cake was served at Eseeola Lodge in Linville, NC.
